Duke, formerly known as "Flash"

Our family had a void since we lost a beloved basset hound in May of 2008. Finally in February of 2009 we decided to take a look at Friends for Life for our new family member. We found a gem! Duke (known at the time as Flash) was so cute when we played with him. He ran around the yard and enjoyed playing tug of war with the kids. We also saw a couple other great dogs, but kept coming back to Duke/Flash because his personality just seemed to be such a good fit for us. We took him home that night.

Our first night with Duke was lots of fun. We enjoyed showing him his new home and he loved sniffing around. It didn't take any time at all for him to learn how to use the doggie door, and in the 18 months he's been with us, he has still never had even one "accident" in the house. We did crate train him at first, which he didn't mind, but after about 6 months it wasn't necessary anymore.

He's not perfect by any means, but he's really smart and very obedient. He's playful, but also loves to be snuggled. Duke was a wonderful addition to our family and we're so glad we went to Friends for Life - a wonderful organization. THANK YOU FRIENDS FOR LIFE!!! Not just for connecting us with Duke, but for all you do for homeless pets.
