Good morning fur fans! What a beautiful morning for a walk. The air is fresh and somewhat cool after last night’s rain. The moisture makes for enhanced aromas wafting up from the roadside. My human, Cathy, adorned me with that special chain necklace and leash and we were off. Right out the door was Honey and her owner. He doesn’t need a leash to follow Honey. He’s well trained, but Cathy wouldn’t remember our course without the leash. I don’t mind pulling her around the trail. I put up with it because she is worth it.
I’ve been saving up the old “squirt” supply all night and I’m ready to mark my territory. Humans can’t or won’t pee on a wall or a rock. They don’t know what they are missing. They don’t seem interested in learning either. Oh well!
I saw the Cookie People this morning. They are such a nice couple! Unfortunately, they don’t have a dog to lead them, so they solicit by offering cookies to every dog they meet. I got TWO today, but I’m not about to abandon my Cathy and follow them home. Dogs have loyal souls, you know.
There are so many little dogs in our neighborhood: Harry (Terrier), Lily(Poodle),Charlie (not sure). I could go on and on. Mostly, they are afraid of me. I’m sure it is my size. I couldn’t have anything to do with my attitude, could it? I’ve been told that I appear to be staring at them the same way I look at a rabbit. Hmmm. Maybe. I suppose I do fantasize about chasing them, although I don’t know what I would do if I actually caught up with one. I wonder if they squeak just like my toys when I bite them.
I have seen signs that today may be a Bath Day. The hose is stretched out on the patio to warm the water inside. The towels are draped over the yard chair. The shampoo bottle is sitting in The Spot right next to The Stool. I need to BOL for that special leash. If Cathy takes off my leather collar and puts the Bath Leash around my neck, I am in for a wet time. Last time Cathy bathed me, she forgot to shut the doggie door. Before she could get the beach towel around my dripping body, I charged inside and shook off. HA! What a fun game! But really, I enjoy the towel rubbing and the brushing throughout the day as I dry off.
OH! I gotta go. It’s “hot dog time.” That means I have done a good thing – OR – I’m about to do a good thing, like take my medicine or …. IT IS BATH DAY! Here comes the bathing leash! Ohhhh! This is going to cost Cathy a few hot dog treats. I’ll start by planting my butt on the floor like I sat on superglue. Let the games begin J--‘
Later, my tail wagging friends,
