Suzie Q

Not all things work out just as you plan them! We had a very firm view of what we thought would fit with our family, a solid list so to speak. With list in hand, we went to petfinders website over several months in search of a cat that met our criteria. Everytime we thought we'd found one, we were turned down by the shelter, either because we had a dog door, or because we had four dogs. One Saturday my daughter and I thought we'd visit 'Friends for Life" in Petsmart (last ditched attempt), to visit 'the cat' that again fit our criteria (declawed, senior, female, lapcat, quiet).

Never say Never is all I can say! My daughter spotted "Imp" as she was called then, but I resisted. Imp was a slim kitten who slept the entire time in the back of her cage, but very soft. She did not meet the criteria, so we went to lunch and 'discussed'.

We returned to Petsmart one more time, and Imp purred as we held her. Worth the risk, we thought. Oh my, has this been the greatest experience EVER! Ok, so Imp, now named SuzieQ (after the senior cat we did not adopt) is gentle yet playful and just one of the 'dogs'. She had her first bath the day we got her home, with no complaints :) Suzie never complains when I clean her ears or her eyes, never bites or scratches and plays with her new doggie mom (my older female border collie). She never jumps on the counters (she has a big scratch post all of her own), and sleeps on my pillow every night. We're in love. Thank you Erika for recommending her to us.
