Nona and Patchie (Vesper and McGillacuddy)

In January, we started looking for a new addition to our family of two. Since we live in an apartment, we thought getting a cat would be the perfect solution. We visited a few shelters and Friends for Life. We really liked the calm, home environment Friends for Life provides for its cats. All the cats seemed much more relaxed and at home than at the other places we visited.

It was much easier to get to know a cat in a short period of time than at some of the shelters. This also made it much more difficult to choose between all of the sweet cats at Friends for Life. Although we weren't completely set on getting a kitten, we visited Heidi's cat and kittens at Pet Club. We revisited a couple more times, until we were sure we were in love with the laid-back mama cat, Nona (Vesper). We heard that she had a special bond with her kitten, Patchie (McGillacuddy), who also looks just like her (they are black with white mitten feet and have tuxedo-like markings). Last week we adopted them both.

We were a little nervous about how they would adapt, but they are doing great! After hiding under the bed for a day, they slowly began coming out to see what was going on. Vesper and McGillacuddy are very low key, but playful and boisterous when you dangle a favorite toy in front of them. They are sweet cats, cuddling and playing with each other. We feel like they are already part of the family.
