This is Phaga (F4L name kept). He was adopted from F4L in August of 2005, while I was a volunteer. He is one of the greatest joys of my life. He's is my companion, friend and family member and has been with me thru happiness and sadness, the pain of divorce and the joy of finding love and having a child. He was approximately 5 years old at the time of adoption, making him almost 15! But age doesn't slow him down. He's still 5 at heart and has the same energy level (just bad knees now) He has been my 2.5 year old sons best friend since the day he was born. I'll be lost without him (we all know the time comes). I hope you all know the great joy you bring others by uniting them with their dogs. Phaga is the standard to which I will hold all other dogs...and they'll never live up to his level of love, caring, obedience, understanding and support. He's been an only dog for the first time ever (since I had to put my 14 year old Vizsla down in January 2015) and I love that he gets to
be the only dog for now and suck up all the love we give him.
Thank you for bringing him into my life,
Michelle Russo
A place to share your stories about the furry friends that the volunteers at Friends for Life rescued from the streets. Because you adopted a dog or cat from us, you made space for us to be able to rescue another dog or cat. You saved two lives the day you adopted from Friends for Life!

Flash (FKA Hercules )
It's been one year since Hercules, now Flash, became a "foster failure". He lives with 3 furever dogs and the occasional foster dog. Flash has completely come out of his shell and is a happy, affectionate dog. His special play buddy is our boxer, who he wouldn't even make eye contact with for his first month in foster. He waits at the bottom of the stairs in the morning and when he sees someone coming down he stands on his hind legs and jumps in excitement. Although his adoption was "unplanned", we are thankful he is with us.

Chulita
Good morning,
When I was at Friends for Life my name was Portia. Last Saturday, these nice people from Show Low came by to see me & fell in love. They adopted me & took me home with them Monday.
Well, I got a new name: Chula or Chulita (pretty girl in Spanish - at least that is what my new people say it means).....
I fell in love the first second they let me out of the carrier & I got to look at the place I would now call home.
It has only been 2 days, but they have another Chihuahua that comes over every Tuesday night & stays until Thursday night. We have gone on 2 walks together & it looks like we are going to be best friends. Tonight will be our first sleep over.
We go for a walk every night & let me tell you, there is nothing better than the grass on the golf course - don't tell anyone, we aren't really supposed to be walking on the golf course because it is for golfers but I won't say anything if you don't
I don't have many pictures yet because it has only been two days, more will come especially after we get through this first weekend, so check back soon.

Sheldon E.
Hi! My forever name is Sheldon although my previous family had named me Tim. I love my new home and Mom and Dad. I get to go with them just about everywhere. Most mornings we go for a walk and I get to do my business but Mom and dad bring bags for that. I particularly like to bark at the deer in the neighbor's yard. Mom and Dad laugh, and I heard the deer aren't real, but it makes me feel good protecting my folks. All my parents' other human kids and grandkids love me. The youngest is only two and he is rather boisterous. It used to scare me but he gives really good treats and hasn't hurt me so I like him too. I like to be wherever Mom is and I insist on sitting in her lap while she sews. Well, now I have my own spot so I can be close and she can see what she is doing. She calls me her Velcro Pug. Whatever that means. All I know is that I love to be on a lap most of the time. I started my own blog at marshamaudine@blogspot.com although I haven't had much time to post recently. I
really like being an only pug but sometimes when I can't go along with Mom and Dad I get a little anxious (okay mad) and I make a peepee on the floor. I feel kinda bad about it cause I never get scolded. Sometimes I get the stink eye about it but never a raised voice. Well Mom is calling me to dinner so I should go now. Thanks foster Mom for taking such good care of me till my forever folks adopted me. - Sheldon -
